my mom is distraught because our dog has tiny feet and she thinks it's too cold for them outside now, so she bought him some "doggy socks" but he won't wear them because he hates his feet being touched at all and "he needs to wear them but whenever i try to put them on he looks traumatized"

feet are essential to dogs so ofc he wont let anything go on them. just tell you mom to limit his time outside, and when he does go out for his walk he needs to avoid salted roads/walkways and standing around for too long. unless its a chihuahua your dog will be able to deal with that shit for a basic walk

if he isn't complaining or showing signs of damage to his feet, i'd say let him go out without anything on. mb shorten his time outside and take him out more times a day as a precaution while still letting him get a good amount of outside time.
